TRENDY TALK – Christopher Kane’s Gingham Glee

Christopher Kane Runway: Spring/Summer 2010 - London Fashion Week

What comes to mind when you hear the word gingham? Barn dances, cliché tied up western shirts with cowboy boots? Certainly not anything fashion worthy. Enter Christopher Kane.

Christopher Kane is the super-cool and unbelievably talented young British fashion designer who has this season stolen our hearts. When Christopher Kane sent his models down the runway in girly, floaty, silk gingham print dresses we all sighed in wonder. Never before has gingham been such a fashionable word.

To get hold of one of Kane’s gingham beauties you need a lot of money and to prepare yourself to be the envy of all fashionistas. Net-a-porter have a fabulous selection, this is our favourite, coming in at a cool £1,630.

Of course when a designer comes up with a trend so universally praised the high street will follow, which means there is a fair few affordable gingham delights out there.

Gant have a fabulous fifties inspired gingham dress £179.

Just in at Oasis is this gingham frill skater dress for £40.

If you don’t feel like going the whole hog in a gingham dress try this skirt £35 from Topshop.
