The National Board of Review Awards Gala took place in New York earlier this week. Held in swanky restaurant Cipriani, the event attracted an impressive guestlist from Hollywood’s elite with many attendees taking to the red carpet circuit to build their profile in the weeks before awards season.

Kate Winslet attended the French premiere of new film Carnage in Paris last night. Kate made an unusual outfit choice in choosing a design by British designer Stella McCartney that she has worn a version of before. Kate chose a red and black body contouring dress, she previously wore a nude version to the Venice Film Festival back in September. The dress undoubtedly works for Kate but when there are countless other designers and looks to choose from it is a little disappointing to see something we’ve seen before.

Naomi Watts attended the premiere of new movie J.Edgar last night in Hollywood. Naomi wowed in a vintage style sequinned gown by Stella McCartney. In this dress with its low v-neck and thigh split, Naomi oozes old Hollywood glamour. She teams the look with an elegant Cartier hooped necklace.

The New York City Ballet Gala is one of the highlights of the NYC social scene, the fall gala took place earlier this week. Stella McCartney attended alongwith a few of her celeb friends dressed head-to-toe in her label of course.

Sarah Jessica Parker got lucky with the loan of a lace one-shouldered dress from next year’s Spring collection, not yet seen on the runway. The pretty dress was teamed with a silver Stella McCartney bag and dark green stiletto heels.

Anna Paquin made an appearance on the panel discussion for HBO’s True Blood press tour in Beverly Hills last week. Anna who is sporting a far more glamorous long blonde tousselled hair do looked chic in a white polka dot sheer dress from the fall collection by Stella McCartney. On the runway the top of this dress is completely sheer but Anna opted for a classier look- covering up, for much more occasion appropriate attire. She teamed the dress with Yves Saint Laurent nude sandals.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley appeared at last night’s Glamour Women of The Year Awards. The Transformers actress flew the flag for British designers choosing to wear a nude silk halterneck dress from the spring collection by Stella McCartney. I absolutely love this look; the dress design is the perfect mix of sexy – with its thigh split whilst retaining a pretty vintage feel, and of course it is worn beautifully by Rosie.

It was all going so well for Gwen Stefani at Cannes; first that edgy Stella McCartney jumpsuit, then the sequinned gown by her own label and now a rather bizarre white and black cutaway detail design by Armani Prive. I want to like this look after all Gwen has got the hair and makeup exactly right but her chosen gown does nothing for her with the cutaway detail making it a little more cheap – which couture definitely isn’t.

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale attended the Cannes Film Festival yesterday for the premiere of Brad Pitt’s new movie; The Tree of Life. The married couple made quite the rock star couple on the glam red carpet. Gwen opted for a black sequinned plunging neckline jumpsuit by Stella McCartney, a great alternative to a gown on the red carpet.
