Glee’s golden girl, Lea Michele attended the Met Gala held on Monday evening. Lea went for a bright red custom made number by Escada. This isn’t a bad dress but when you wear a full length ball gown in the evocative colour of red, its got to be a pretty spectacular dress.

Penelope Cruz also attended the ball. For Penelope a classic black silk organza tiered gown from the upcoming fall collection by Oscar De La Renta. Penelope isn’t going to win any awards for this look but sometimes, when the event is as big as the Met ball, playing it safe might be the sensible option.

Actress Ginnifer Goodwin also attended the event, Ginnifer surprised by not picking a high fashion look like many of her fellow attendees. Instead Ginnifer went for a dress by British high street favourite Topshop. Don’t get too excited, it’s not your average off the rack Topshop, it’s a custom made design by Topshop Unique. The colour is great and the twist front detailing is just the right amount of sexy.

Alexis Bledel has been on a fashion fest for the last week. The Gilmore Girls star is busy promoting her new movie directed by Robert Redford, The Conspirator. On Sunday she appeared at the Washington premiere in a simple longsleeved dress from the pre-fall collection by Stella McCartney. A pair of gold Alejandro Inglemo sandals dress up the look.

On Monday Alexis appeared in New York for the red carpet premiere. For this occasion she went for a dressier look in an embroidered cap-sleeved gown from the pre-fall collection by Oscar De La Renta. The dress (as with most ODLR designs) is exquisite and the addition of black Giuseppe Zanotti sandals are the perfect accessories.

Jennifer Garner attended the New York premiere of Arthur this week. The actress went for a very chic look from the pre-fall collection by Oscar De La Renta; an embroidered pencil skirt, low-back cashmere jumper and black Casadei pumps.

Helen Mirren also appeared at the premiere. For the veteran actress with a penchant for Alber Elbaz’s designs she went for a Lanvin look of course. A taffeta maxi skirt teamed with silk blouse and statement bib necklace complete the look.

The Costume Designers Guild Awards took place last night in Beverly Hills. Whilst all attention maybe focused on the actors and actresses vying to walk away with Oscars this coming weekend, this event focuses on the unsung men and women behind the scenes.

On the red carpet there was only one star and that was Halle Berry. Halle pulled all the stops out in a stunning red lace gown from the new spring haute couture collection by Elie Saab. The dress is exquisite and it fits Halle perfectly so much so that perhaps she should have saved this number for the Academy Awards later this week.

Other stars out at the event included Sex and the City’s Kristin Davis, Kristin pretty much only wears Oscar De La Renta (not a bad way to live)! On this occasion she went for a white and black polka dot design from the spring collection. If someone asked me my opinion on a polka dot gown for the red carpet I’d probably recoil back in horror, however like Halle’s this gown just fits so perfectly and the design is actually kind of quirky!

Finally Claire Danes attended the event wearing a metallic shift dress from Lanvin’s new spring collection. The dress is actually very pretty but Claire has the misfortune of being in the vicinity of Halle in that Elie Saab dress….completely outshone!

Rihanna took the Brit awards by storm this week with not only a showstopping performance but also an array of high fashion outfits. For her performance Rihanna sported a pink ruffle topped cape dress custom made for her by Giles Deacon. Now although I am generally a big fan of Giles Deacon I can’t get on board with this look, it looks like something out of a GCSE textile project, and not one of the better ones.

Her fashion choices greatly improved later in the show where she changed into a white rose embroidered ball gown from the spring collection by Oscar De La Renta. This was one of my favourite looks from the ODLR spring collection and Rihanna wore it well.

I’m not Lea Michele’s biggest fashion fan, I find her red carpet choices either a little try-hard or just obvious but at last night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards she surprised me. Lea looked stunning in a low neck beaded blush gown from the new spring collection by her favourite designer; Oscar De La Renta. I love everything about this look from the elegant belted waist to Lea’s artfully tousled hair.

Lea Michele has become as famous for her red carpet fashion choices as her starring role in Glee. For the 2010 Golden Globes Lea went for a softer look in a pale pink asymmetric ruffled gown by Oscar De La Renta.

Eva Mendes was on such a fab run of stunning red carpet appearance at the Marrakech Film Festival in a string of designs by Christian Dior and Oscar De La Renta, and then she had to go and ruin it without a fashion nightmare. Eva attended a photocall last night wearing a staples tiered ruffle dress from the fall collection by Prada.

The colour; a strange lavender with white trim is awful. The ruffles are hideous and shouldn’t be seen anywhere near a red carpet this side of 1990. This isn’t the only awful dress to come from Prada’s fall collection; remember the crime of fashion committed by Dakota Fanning in her leather ruffled dress for fashion’s night out?

Anne Hathaway and co-star Jake Gyllenhaal made the long journey to Sydney this week to promote their new movie Love and Other Drugs. Anne attended the premiere of the film last night looking radiant in a gold mini dress from the new spring collection by Oscar De La Renta. She teamed the festive dress with a pair of killer strappy Jimmy Choo heels.

Earlier in the day Anne and Jake made the picture perfect couple posing at Sydney Harbour for the film’s photocall. For the occasion Anne went for a super stylish navy galaxy print mini dress from the resort collection by British favourite Christopher Kane with black Brian Atwood heels.

Eva went for a pretty look for a photocall where she posed in a white silk and lace embroidered gown from the new spring collection by Oscar De La Renta. Finally for the opening ceremony of the festival Eva went for yet another stunning Christian Dior silk design, this time a lilac halterneck gown.
