Glee star Lea Michele has had a busy weekend – appearing on Friday at the Fox All Star Party alongside her castmates before attending the star-studded premiere of Glee: The 3D Concert Movie in LA on Saturday night. On both occasions Lea chose to wear Marchesa.

For the Fox party on Friday Lea went for a stunning cream sequin embroidered drop waist gown and tasselled belt. She teamed the dress with a silver Judith Leiber box clutch, touselled hair and a glowing tan for a fresh and pretty look.

The following evening Lea went for a much stronger Marchesa look, choosing to wear a black feather embroidered detail mini dress from the fall collection. A sleek ponytail and killer black pointed Casadei stilletos finish the look.

LA played host to the BAFTA Brits to Watch dinner last night held at the Belasco Theatre. The event attracted an impressive array of stars, no doubt attracted by prospect of meeting the star guests – the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively stunned on the red carpet wearing a one shoulder sheer draped gown from the spring collection by Marchesa. She complimented the exquisite design with Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Christian Louboutin for Marchesa silver heels.

Emma Watson was another big name on the red carpet for last night’s 2011 MTV Movie Awards in LA. Emma went for a little white silk dress with beaded shoulder details by Marchesa with silver Brian Atwood pumps. This is a very pretty dress on Emma, however we are used to seeing something a little bit different on the Harry Potter star and there is nothing new about this look.

Penelope Cruz continued her promotional duties for Pirates of the Caribbean at the Cannes Film Festival. Penelope attended the Cannes screening of the film wearing a powder blue, jewel encrusted tulle illusion dress from the new fall collection by Marchesa. I can’t fault the dress or the look but I take slight issue with tulle shoulder details which are a little too frou-frou.

Rachel McAdams made another appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. She appeared alongside Michael Sheen again for the screening of Sleeping Beauty. In contrast to last night’s stunning Marchesa gown, Rachel decided to tone it down in a trouser and top look. Rachel went for a beaded bustier and beige high waisted trousers by Monique Lhuillier. It makes a change to see trousers on a red carpet and with the detailed top Rachel can just about pull this off, but it is Cannes where gowns are not only expected but pretty much mandatory.

If two jaw-dropping dresses on the red carpet for the Opening Ceremony of Cannes Film Festival wasn’t enough, Rachel McAdams brought us one more. In one of the first public appearances with her actor boyfriend Michael Sheen, Rachel opted for an embroidered organza cap sleeved dress from the new fall/winter collection by Marchesa. She paired the gown with Casadei pumps and Bulgari jewels for a dazzling red carpet look.

As the new female lead in the latest instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean films, Penelope Cruz was on hand at the premiere which took place in Disneyland California. New mum Penelope showed no sign of having recently had a baby in a black embroidered gown custom made by Marchesa. As always the Marchesa gown is exquisite with the feathered detailing making the most of Penelope’s womanly assets! Statement Chopard earrings finish off the glamorous look.

Diane Kruger is always one of my absolute favourites on the red carpet, and at last night’s Costume Institute Gala she did not disappoint. Diane went for a black and nude sequin lace gown from the fall 2011 collection by Jason Wu. The combination of the delicate embroidered top half and the ultra sexy high waisted split skirt is a great contrast and of course with Diane’s Hollywood hair and makeup the whole look is perfect!

Fergie went for the ivory long sleeved lace gown from next season’s fall collection by Marchesa. I love this dress but unfortunately not on Fergie, the dress is soft and graceful and Fergie has a much harder look about her. I would have loved to see this dress on someone like Lea Michele or Taylor Swift.

However much I hate to criticise a Marchesa dress this look worn by Blake Lively at CinemaCon in Las Vegas last week is not good. The red embroidered dress comes from the new fall 2011 collection by Marchesa, Blake also wears Brian Atwood heels and an extensive amount of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

The problem with this dress (other than the slight ice skating costume element to it) is that it is too short for Blake. Now on mere mortals who are not blessed with the stature of a giraffe (in the nicest possible way) the ruffled bottom of the dress would have fallen lower on the hips, elongating the body instead of emphasising the waist as this does on Blake.

Halle Berry was the second big name of the night to be dressed by Marchesa after Hailee Steinfeld arrived in her girly ballgown design. Halle arrived on the Oscar’s red carpet in a nude tulle detail gown. A gown by Marchesa is a sure bet on best dressed list and this one is no different. It’s nice to see Halle in something so girly and feminine as opposed to her usual super sexy looks.
