Awards Season kicked off last night with the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards. The big winners on the night included George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet and Claire Danes. New silent movie The Artist took away 3 awards and Martin Scorsese was awarded the covetted best director for Hugo.

On the red carpet one of the best dressed stars of the evening was Charlize Theron. Charlize looked every inch the movie star in a custom made nude couture design by Dior.

Reese Witherspoon wowed in a red strapless fish-tailed gown by Zac Posen. This dress fits Reese perfectly and is teamed with the perfect choice in paired down hair and makeup so as not to detract from the gown.

Michelle Williams went for a retro looking design in a purple textured long-sleeved gown created by Jason Wu.

Lea Michele failed to impress in a too-revealing bronze and silver see-through Marchesa gown.

Emma Stone went for a custom made dark purple chiffon Grecian style maxi dress by Lanvin. This is a nice look but I have come to expect something a little more special from Emma.

The 23rd Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Gala took place this weekend in Palm Springs, California. The glamorous event is one of the more popular red carpet in the run-up to awards season which starts next weekend with the first of the big ceremonies, The Golden Globes.

Up first on the red carpet was Olivia Wilde. Olivia played it safe in a figure hugging black tank dress from the spring collection by Monique Lhuillier. The dress is jazzed up with the addition of opaque lace inserts on the side.

Charlize Theron chose a shift dress from the new spring collection by Lanvin. This dress looks pretty ordinary other than the killer split up the side.

Newcomer Jessica Chastain looked chic in a high shine metallic green v-neck dress from the pre-fall collection by Prabal Gurung.

Angelina Jolie made an appearance on the red carpet with long-term partner Brad Pitt. Angelina went for a look that was a departure from her preferred colour of black in a cream pleated wide-leg (not entirely flattering) jumpsuit from the spring collection by Elie Saab.

The words -red leather dress aren’t usually ones that work together but the look comes off surprising chic on Charlize. She teams the dress with nude Jimmy Choo shoes.

Charlize was also spotted arriving for a taping of The Late Show. For this occasion she went for a classic look in a monochrome dress from the new spring collection by Antonio Berardi. She teamed the dress with black strappy Tom Ford sandals.

The annual GQ Men of the Year Awards took place earlier this week at the Royal Opera House in London. The event attracts an impressive array of stars, this year’s attendees included the likes of Bradley Cooper and designer Tommy Hilfiger. Charlize Theron was one of the big stars on the red carpet. Charlize went for a chic look in grey palazzo pants and a lavender silk top all from the fall collection by Roland Mouret.

Every year following the Oscar awards ceremony the stars of the red carpet head a few blocks up to the Vanity Fair party where the guestlist is strictly A-list. Zoe Saldana made an appearance at the party wearing a statement red chiffon pleated dress from the hot off the runway fall collection by Prabal Gurung. I love the colour here, I’m not a massive fan of the neckline but Zoe really can’t look bad.

Charlize went for old school Hollywood glamour in a white draped assymmetric gown by Atelier Versace, I only wish the dress didn’t have the embellished detail in the middle. Finally every awards night has to have a bit of a fashion fail and tonight that was Amanda Seyfried. Amanda attended the event in a pre-fall Valentino dress. There are numerous problems with this look; it being far too informal and the bra showing being the main ones.

Charlize Theron brought a dose of glamour to the Africa Outreach Project Benefit held in New York last night. The actress looked chic in a white deep v-neck dress from the new spring collection by Versace teamed with Versace sandals. A black tailored jacket smartened up the dress for the charity event, making the monochrome look a flawless choice.

Victoria Beckham was the big name over at Bergdorf Goodman, the designer wore a black off the shoulder dress from her own label of course. Also appearing at Bergdorfs; Nicole Richie who wore a black lace dress from her own label Winter Kate. Sarah Jessica Parker popped in and made time for two outfit changes, an Oscar De La Renta dress from the resort collection, then a more casual ensemble of draped purple dress and shoes from her favourite shoemaker Nicholas Kirkwood.

At Saks Claire Danes was on hand to join in with the celebrations in the Donna Karan section, she wore a green draped dress from pre-fall Donna Karan. Diane Kruger spiced things up in a little red mini dress joining in the fun and games in the world famous department store.

Jennifer Lopez brought a little glamour to Macy’s where she appeared in a cream mini dress and Christian Louboutin heels. Over at Roger Vivier Leighton Meester wowed in a design by Emilio De La Morena teamed with Vivier shoes. And as the face of the brand Charlize Theron was fulfilling her duties at Christian Dior, in a smart Dior ensemble.

Jessica Alba sparkled at Ralph Lauren in a silver sequined dress by the label also at the store was Vogue cover-star Halle Berry in a daring design from the Ralph Lauren fall collection.

Sony Studios was the hot destination last night in Los Angeles where stars gathered for the annual Spike TV Guys Choice Awards. The award ceremony voted for by guys in appreciation of the fairer sex proved a hotbed for celebrity activity last night with an impressive guest attendance.

Jessica Biel hot off the publicity tour for new film ‘The A-Team’ arrived at the awards in a look by Christian Dior from the spring collection. Jessica walked away with the award ‘holy grail of hot.’

Sandra Bullock’s surprise appearance was the big shock of the night, it being her first public appearance since the revelations regarding her private life. Sandra was awarded entertainer of the year, an award which was voted by the public. Sandra’s big comeback outfit did not disappoint she chose a leather dress from Elie Saab’s fall collection.

Scarlett Johansson went for eye catching yellow on the red carpet in bright asymmetric dress. This follows on from a trend of yellow wearing celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristen Stewart. Scarlett picked up the ‘Jean Claude Gahd Damn’ award.

Ben Affleck presented Charlize Theron with the award for ‘decade of hotness.’ Charlize chose a mini dress from the fall collection by Versace for the event, which has an unfortunate emphasising effect on her shoulders.
