The 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards took place last night in Los Angeles as awards season is now in full swing. The SAG awards is another of the big red carpet awards shows in the run-up to the Academy Awards later next month.

Here is a roundup of who wore what at the 2012 SAG awards:

It’s not very often I can say this but last night, Lea Michele was one of my best dressed attendees. Lea got it exactly right in a champagne coloured bandage dress from the fall 2010 couture collection by Atelier Versace. A thigh length split added the perfect mix of drama and sex appeal and Lea perfectly complimented the dress with silver Casadei pumps.

Tilda Swinton is known for her at times unusual outfit choices. However on this occasion she chose a chic long-sleeved white gown from the resort collection by Lanvin.

Emily Blunt chose a lack-lustre green design from the resort collection by Oscar De La Renta. The dress is a nice design but the shade of green doesn’t quite work for Emily.

Angelina Jolie stuck to her tried and tested black dress formula in a draped neckline dress from the fall collection by British designer Jenny Packham.

Emma Stone shunned the full-length dress code in favour of a quirky midi-length black strapless design from the pre-fall collection by Alexander McQueen.

Zoe Saldana was one of my best dressed at the event, Zoe looked stunning in a white embroidered design from the new spring 2012 haute couture collection by Givenchy.

Michelle Williams looked pretty in a red lace embroidered gown by Valentino. The only issue here is that appears to be a little ill-fitting on Michelle’s slender figure.

Amber Heard oozed glamour in a black cut-out detail gown by Zac Posen.

Rose Byrne also went for something a little different in a stunning white embellished jumpsuit from the fall 2009 haute couture collection by Elie Saab.

Julianna Margulies went for a glamorous look in a white heavily embellished strapless gown by Calvin Klein.

Jessica Chastain also chose Calvin Klein in a sharp cut classic blue design.

Finally Natalie Portman stunned in a dark purple Giambattista Valli dress.

The 18th BAFTA Tea Party took place last week at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. On the red carpet, BAFTA nominee Michelle Williams went with a pretty elfin look in a cute monochrome design from the new collection by Victoria Beckham; Victoria.

Evan Rachel Wood chose a classic ensemble with a sexy twist; a red skirt and blouse look from the new spring collection by Roland Mouret with a peak of bra. Killer black Salvatore Ferragamo heels complete the look.

Chloe Moretz attended the awards wearing a grown-up ensemble of stripey pencil skirt and top look from the new resort collection by Burberry Prorsum, she teamed the look with a stylish pair of Rupert Sanderson lace-up heels.

Charlize Theron oozed Hollywood glamour in a yellow lace lace peplum dress from the pre-fall collection by Stella McCartney. From the chic dress, nude accessories to the sleek hair and bold red lips; everything about this look works great.

Carey Mulligan attended the Film Critic’s Circle Awards in London last week. The actress wowed in a red tulip print midi-dress from the new spring collection by Roland Mouret. She paired the bold dress with equally bold cobalt blue Yves Saint Laurent platforms.

Madonna made an appearance on the red carpet to promote her new movie W.E. Madonna went for a black embroidered silver and black dress from last year’s autumn/winter collection Marchesa. This dress with its chiffon shoulder details has a slight hint of Miss Havisham; not a great look on Madonna.

Andrea Riseborough, the film’s leading lady also went for a Marchesa design. Andrea’s sheer embroidered skirt and top set from the new spring collection is a good look with just the right mix of fashion (this season’s peplum) and Marchesa’s trademark drama.

Awards Season kicked off last night with the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards. The big winners on the night included George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet and Claire Danes. New silent movie The Artist took away 3 awards and Martin Scorsese was awarded the covetted best director for Hugo.

On the red carpet one of the best dressed stars of the evening was Charlize Theron. Charlize looked every inch the movie star in a custom made nude couture design by Dior.

Reese Witherspoon wowed in a red strapless fish-tailed gown by Zac Posen. This dress fits Reese perfectly and is teamed with the perfect choice in paired down hair and makeup so as not to detract from the gown.

Michelle Williams went for a retro looking design in a purple textured long-sleeved gown created by Jason Wu.

Lea Michele failed to impress in a too-revealing bronze and silver see-through Marchesa gown.

Emma Stone went for a custom made dark purple chiffon Grecian style maxi dress by Lanvin. This is a nice look but I have come to expect something a little more special from Emma.

Nicole Kidman got it wrong in a rather peculiar studded gown in a strange not quite mint green but not cream either design by Versace.

Kate Winslet looked effortlessly chic in a monochrome design by British designer Jenny Packham.

Heidi Klum went for minimalist chic in a beautiful light orange gown by Calvin Klein.

Angelina Jolie went for a glamorous look in a cream and red detail gown by Atelier Versace.

Tilda Swinton looked so strange it’s actually kind of amazing in a blue jacket and skirt look by Haider Ackerman.

Julianne Moore played it safe in a black strapless layered gown by Chanel couture.

Kate Beckinsale wowed in a super glamorous strapless fishtail gown by Roberto Cavalli.

Freida Pinto chose a beautiful strapless gown in teal blue by Prada.

Jessica Chastain rocked a high fashion embellished white high-neck gown by Givenchy.

Finally Madonna arrived in a metallic and embroidered cap-sleeve gown from the pre-fall collection by Reem Acra.

Finally Claire Danes chose a classic monochrome design, an adapted look by J.Mendel.

Another awards ceremony that took place this week in the run-up to the Golden Globes Award tonight was the AFI awards.

Rooney Mara can’t do a thing wrong in the style stakes, she chose chic a bronze and black combination from the pre-fall collection by Lanvin.

Chloe Moretz went for a pretty black and white drop waist dress from the new spring collection by Versus.

Jessica Chastain went for a traditional look in a skirt and top monochrome combo by Andrew GN.

The Critics Choice Awards took place earlier this week in Hollywood with an impressive guestlist from Hollywood’s elite.

Michelle Williams went for a classically elegant look in a monochrome design from the resort 2012 collection by Chanel. Occasionally I think Chanel can age its wearer but this is a great look on Michelle.

Diane Kruger is my best dressed of this event in a beautiful lavender and yellow silk dress by Prada.

Chloe Moretz got it a little wrong in a puff-sleeved black dress from the fall collection by Chanel. This isn’t pretty enough on Chloe and comes off just too hard.

The annual People’s Choice Awards took place last night in the Los Angeles. The awards celebrate the nation’s favourite in music, tv and film. Big winners on the night included the Harry Potter movies, Katy Perry who wasn’t in attendance and actress Emma Stone.

Lea Michele wowed in an on-trend twenties inspired flapper girl dress. The white draped design is from the new spring collection by Marchesa, she teamed the dress with Jimmy Choo sandals.

Ginnifer Goodwin flew the flag for London Fashion Week’s Roksanda Ilincic in a bell sleeve dress in eye-popping pink. Jimmy Choo mesh boots completed the chic look.

Ashley Greene went for a gothic inspired look in a leather and lace mini dress from the pre-fall collection by DKNY.

Demi Lovato chose an orange strapless dress with embellished bustier from the new resort collection by Marchesa.

Kristen Bell also chose leather and lace in a chic mini dress from the new spring collection by Valentino with nude and metallic Christian Louboutin pumps, stopping off at the premiere of The Grey first before attending the People’s Choice Awards.

Miley Cyrus continued on in her effort to move away from her teen image in a daring plunging neckline gown from the spring collection by British designer David Koma teamed with Jimmy Choo pumps.

Chloe Moretz stayed true to her age in a cute green pinafore style dress from the pre-fall collection by Proenza Schouler, classic black Dolce and Gabbana mary janes completed the look.

Emma Stone showed off her fashion stripes in a stylish green suit jacket, white shirt and black trouser combination from the spring collection by Gucci.

Naomi Watts debut this season’s must-have midi-length hemline in black and gold dress from pre-fall collection by Stella McCartney.

Chloe Moretz chose a voluminous mini red dress from resort collection by Miu Miu. On anyone else I would have struggled with this look but Chloe is youthful enough to make it work.

Felicity Jones showed off a classic look in a black fifties style dress from last spring’s Dolce and Gabbana collection.

Girl of the moment Rooney Mara played it safe in a black Miu Miu dress, the one redeeming feature of this look is the slightly puffed up skirt and the YSL shoes of course.
