Zac Posen is the American designer famous for his high end collection with an emphasis on dazzling evening dresses. In a great coup for fashion democracy he has lent his skills to American retailer Target and created a range of pieces all priced under $200 (think a Jimmy Choo for H & M type range).

Last night was the launch of the new collection in New York and it wouldn’t be acceptable for it to go ahead without a host of celebrity friends to celebrate with. And did they turn out for Mr Posen! We saw Maggie Gyllenhaal, Claire Danes, Ginnifer Goodwin, Mena Suvari, Michelle Trachtenberg and of course girl about town Olivia Palermo.

The only question is when Zac Posen will bring the line for fashionistas over the pond.
