Poor Dakota Fanning, whoever told her this dress looked good is a very very good liar. Dakota attended Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out celebration in NYC yesterday where she held camp at Prada on 5th Avenue.
The fall collection from Prada was full of fabulous frocks, but somehow this one slipped through the net and Twilight star, Dakota pulled the short straw. The leather dress is just wrong, from the high-shine material to the ruffled top (think dominatrix getup gone wrong). Dakota’s hair and makeup only added to the problem, however it’s not all bad because her Prada platform shoes are rather cute.

Only Kelly Brook would head out for a bike ride wearing skin tight jeans, Mary-Jane heels and a Vivienne Westwood corset. Kelly took part in the London Skyride at the weekend alongside London Mayor Boris Johnson. For the event Kelly showed off her tiny waist in a pink patterned corset top from Vivienne Westwood….not exactly suitable cycling attire.

Naomi Campbell attended the screening of Miral last night at the Venice Film Festival alongside her boyfriend Vladimir Doronin. Her outfit of choice proves to the masses that even the world’s most famous supermodel can look bad.
Naomi (ill-advisedly) chose a teal green floor-length gown from Azzedine Alaia. Whilst the open back detailing is a nice touch, it doesn’t quite detract from the frumpy appearance created by the rest of the dress topped off by a strange choice of shoe.

The Venice Film Festival kicked off today with a few Hollywood hotties making their way to the Italian city to showcase their latest film endeavours. First up was Jessica Alba who arrived for a photocall for her new movie Machete.
Jessica chose a floral print tea dress from the fall collection at Dolce and Gabbana. She accessorised the look with fierce sandals. Unfortunately the whole look from the shoes to the dress does not work; think washer woman gone over to the darkside?! Jessica does sport a fab sleek hairdo however.
Natalie Portman only faired slightly better while promoting Black Swan. She chose a purple strapless mini dress by Miu Miu which is ok but it’s not blowing anyone anyway. Let’s hope these girls packed some better stuff than this for the rest of the week!

Anyone else starting to get fed up with the relentless red carpet appearances? Angelina Jolie took over Berlin last night for the premiere of her new movie Salt. And so she provides us with another outfit to pour over.
Unfortunately much like many of her other outings this one lacked lustre. Angelina chose a black wrap dress by BCBG Max Azria. The dress is a little shapeless and the high shine fabric gives it a slightly cheap look. Angelina in Atelier Versace in Moscow and vintage Versace in Tokyo were the fashion highlights of her promotional tour.

Who is dressing Anna Kendrick? Twilight star Anna, started off so well; there is a lot of love for the Marchesa she wore to the Golden Globes and the Gianfranco Ferre at the Oscars nominee luncheon, not to mention the numerous Elie Saab outings. Her more recent choices…… not so great.
Last night she was in London at the premiere of her new movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the world. She chose a black off the shoulder dress by Elise Overland teamed with Jimmy Choo sandals. Any dress that can make a skinny Hollywood hottie look frumpy is to put it bluntly, an absolute nightmare.

Glee star Lea Michele attended an event held by Fox yesterday in Los Angeles for the hit series. Lea appeared alongside co-stars including Cory Monteith and Matthew Morrison. Lea, the star of the show, chose to wear an asymmetric cream and gold patterned dress from the resort collection by Reem Acra.
Lea is a favourite on best dressed lists but this particular design fails to impress (being much more suitable for someone much older then Lea). In addition the palette does nothing for Lea’s darker complexion whilst the loose fitting dress swamps her petite figure. In contrast co-star Jayma Mays looked chic in an embellished shift dress design by Elie Saab.

Anna Kendrick has hit our style radar numerous times over the past year in some fab outfits from Gianfranco Ferre and Elie Saab. Her role as Jessica in The Twilight Saga and then her Oscar nominated performance alongside George Clooney in Up in the Air has cemented her star status.
Last night she attended the LA premiere of her new movie Scott Pilgrim vs the World. For the occasion Anna chose a little blue strapless animal print dress from the resort collection at Marchesa teamed with Jimmy Choos.
Normally Marchesa is a safe bet on the red carpet with collection after collection of stunning dresses, however it seems that Anna may have picked up the dud! Either it is the wrong fit on Anna or it is the wrap effect makes this dress so unflattering. The addition of bright yellow Jimmy Choos is an interesting idea that has gone very very wrong. Whilst we admire the sentiment of trying to do something a little different, it’s hard to decide which looks worse; the dress or the shoes!

There appears to be a new trend on red carpets where underdressed is best. First we saw Marion Cotillard at the Inception London premiere in a floaty kaftan-esque Thakoon dress, then Katie Holmes in a Celine t-shirt dress in New York and now Cameron Diaz at the UK premiere of Knight and Day.
In a highly anticipated appearance by the usually ultra glam Cameron Diaz, the actress shocked onlookers when she arrived in a simple silver sweater dress. Whilst the knitted dress by Stella McCartney paired with peeptoe pumps did show off Cameron’s fab legs, fashionistas can’t help but feel disappointed. If Cam wanted to wear a British designer she surely had her pick of super stylish dresses from the very best.

Katie Holmes attended the premiere of her new film The Extra Man last night in New York. Katie is most famous for her well publicised marriage to Tom Cruise and her super fashionable daughter Suri. What Katie is not particularly praised for is her own fashion sense, unfortunately last night’s appearance proved no different.
Katie chose a blue and red striped t-shirt dress from Celine for the premiere paired with Roger Vivier heels. Whilst for everyday Celine designs are a great choice, for a film premiere they are not advised. Katie Holmes looked underdressed for a red carpet appearance. On a better note we do love Katie’s hair, the overgrown curly bob looks fab on her.
