Carey Mulligan attended the Film Critic’s Circle Awards in London last week. The actress wowed in a red tulip print midi-dress from the new spring collection by Roland Mouret. She paired the bold dress with equally bold cobalt blue Yves Saint Laurent platforms.

Madonna made an appearance on the red carpet to promote her new movie W.E. Madonna went for a black embroidered silver and black dress from last year’s autumn/winter collection Marchesa. This dress with its chiffon shoulder details has a slight hint of Miss Havisham; not a great look on Madonna.

Andrea Riseborough, the film’s leading lady also went for a Marchesa design. Andrea’s sheer embroidered skirt and top set from the new spring collection is a good look with just the right mix of fashion (this season’s peplum) and Marchesa’s trademark drama.

The Critics Choice Awards took place earlier this week in Hollywood with an impressive guestlist from Hollywood’s elite.

Michelle Williams went for a classically elegant look in a monochrome design from the resort 2012 collection by Chanel. Occasionally I think Chanel can age its wearer but this is a great look on Michelle.

Chloe Moretz got it a little wrong in a puff-sleeved black dress from the fall collection by Chanel. This isn’t pretty enough on Chloe and comes off just too hard.

The annual People’s Choice Awards took place last night in the Los Angeles. The awards celebrate the nation’s favourite in music, tv and film. Big winners on the night included the Harry Potter movies, Katy Perry who wasn’t in attendance and actress Emma Stone.

Lea Michele wowed in an on-trend twenties inspired flapper girl dress. The white draped design is from the new spring collection by Marchesa, she teamed the dress with Jimmy Choo sandals.

The National Board of Review Awards Gala took place in New York earlier this week. Held in swanky restaurant Cipriani, the event attracted an impressive guestlist from Hollywood’s elite with many attendees taking to the red carpet circuit to build their profile in the weeks before awards season.

Chloe Moretz chose a voluminous mini red dress from resort collection by Miu Miu. On anyone else I would have struggled with this look but Chloe is youthful enough to make it work.

The 23rd Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Gala took place this weekend in Palm Springs, California. The glamorous event is one of the more popular red carpet in the run-up to awards season which starts next weekend with the first of the big ceremonies, The Golden Globes.

Up first on the red carpet was Olivia Wilde. Olivia played it safe in a figure hugging black tank dress from the spring collection by Monique Lhuillier. The dress is jazzed up with the addition of opaque lace inserts on the side.

Kate Middleton wowed in a black lace overlay dress, custom made for her by Alice Temperley. With a modest neckline and a black velvet waist band that emphasises Kate’s slender figure the look is classic and refined yet stylish and modern.
