Judging from the red carpets we’ve seen in the last few weeks there’s only one colour to be wearing this winter; white. In the past week alone we’ve seen Angelina Jolie, Anne Hathaway, Michelle Williams, Cheryl Cole, Nicole Kidman, Elle Fanning and Jessica Alba sporting their brightest whites.
White is the easiest of colours to wear for all skin tones, for paler palettes take a tip from Kirsten Dunst who brightens up her Chanel gown with a slick of red lips. Steer clear of the temptation to break out the St Tropez unless your after a role as an extra in The Only Way is Essex.
White dresses are best worn loose and floaty like Lara Stone’s Calvin Klein number, but if you want something more fitting go for a structured look like Beyonce’s Antonio Berardi design…never skin tight. Keep your neckline high and your hemline short, if you want to flash the flesh make it a statement back a la Gwyneth Paltrow in Emilio Pucci. As for accessories there’s no easier colour to complement, wear black for a timeless monochrome or jazz up with something brighter.
