The 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards took place last night in Los Angeles as awards season is now in full swing. The SAG awards is another of the big red carpet awards shows in the run-up to the Academy Awards later next month.

Here is a roundup of who wore what at the 2012 SAG awards:

It’s not very often I can say this but last night, Lea Michele was one of my best dressed attendees. Lea got it exactly right in a champagne coloured bandage dress from the fall 2010 couture collection by Atelier Versace. A thigh length split added the perfect mix of drama and sex appeal and Lea perfectly complimented the dress with silver Casadei pumps.

Tilda Swinton is known for her at times unusual outfit choices. However on this occasion she chose a chic long-sleeved white gown from the resort collection by Lanvin.

Emily Blunt chose a lack-lustre green design from the resort collection by Oscar De La Renta. The dress is a nice design but the shade of green doesn’t quite work for Emily.

Angelina Jolie stuck to her tried and tested black dress formula in a draped neckline dress from the fall collection by British designer Jenny Packham.

Emma Stone shunned the full-length dress code in favour of a quirky midi-length black strapless design from the pre-fall collection by Alexander McQueen.

Zoe Saldana was one of my best dressed at the event, Zoe looked stunning in a white embroidered design from the new spring 2012 haute couture collection by Givenchy.

Michelle Williams looked pretty in a red lace embroidered gown by Valentino. The only issue here is that appears to be a little ill-fitting on Michelle’s slender figure.

Amber Heard oozed glamour in a black cut-out detail gown by Zac Posen.

Rose Byrne also went for something a little different in a stunning white embellished jumpsuit from the fall 2009 haute couture collection by Elie Saab.

Julianna Margulies went for a glamorous look in a white heavily embellished strapless gown by Calvin Klein.

Jessica Chastain also chose Calvin Klein in a sharp cut classic blue design.

Finally Natalie Portman stunned in a dark purple Giambattista Valli dress.

Awards Season kicked off last night with the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards. The big winners on the night included George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet and Claire Danes. New silent movie The Artist took away 3 awards and Martin Scorsese was awarded the covetted best director for Hugo.

On the red carpet one of the best dressed stars of the evening was Charlize Theron. Charlize looked every inch the movie star in a custom made nude couture design by Dior.

Reese Witherspoon wowed in a red strapless fish-tailed gown by Zac Posen. This dress fits Reese perfectly and is teamed with the perfect choice in paired down hair and makeup so as not to detract from the gown.

Michelle Williams went for a retro looking design in a purple textured long-sleeved gown created by Jason Wu.

Lea Michele failed to impress in a too-revealing bronze and silver see-through Marchesa gown.

Emma Stone went for a custom made dark purple chiffon Grecian style maxi dress by Lanvin. This is a nice look but I have come to expect something a little more special from Emma.

Nicole Kidman got it wrong in a rather peculiar studded gown in a strange not quite mint green but not cream either design by Versace.

Kate Winslet looked effortlessly chic in a monochrome design by British designer Jenny Packham.

Heidi Klum went for minimalist chic in a beautiful light orange gown by Calvin Klein.

Angelina Jolie went for a glamorous look in a cream and red detail gown by Atelier Versace.

Tilda Swinton looked so strange it’s actually kind of amazing in a blue jacket and skirt look by Haider Ackerman.

Julianne Moore played it safe in a black strapless layered gown by Chanel couture.

Kate Beckinsale wowed in a super glamorous strapless fishtail gown by Roberto Cavalli.

Freida Pinto chose a beautiful strapless gown in teal blue by Prada.

Jessica Chastain rocked a high fashion embellished white high-neck gown by Givenchy.

Finally Madonna arrived in a metallic and embroidered cap-sleeve gown from the pre-fall collection by Reem Acra.

Finally Claire Danes chose a classic monochrome design, an adapted look by J.Mendel.

The 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards took place on Sunday night in Los Angeles. The awards ceremony which celebrates the best in television attracted an impressive array of stars. But it was the Brits who cleaned up on the night with Downton Abbey winning big and Kate Winslet taking best actress.

The red carpet was an impressive sight with stars bringing out their best in what is the first big event after the summer, signalling the start of awards season. Here you’ll find a comprehensive roundup of who wore what all condensed into one giant post!

First up was Gwyneth Paltrow who definitely likes to make a statement, it’s not often you see the flash of a stomach on the red carpet but Gwyneth showed hers off with pride. Gwyneth’s design of choice was a cropped top and long skirt ensemble by Emilio Pucci. The sight of her midriff detracts somewhat from the exquisite detail of this look which is a shame.

Kate Winslet was one of the big winners of the night, taking away the best actress accolade for her role in tv-series Mildred Pierce. For the occasion Kate looked every inch the movie star in a figure hugging red gown from the resort collection by Elie Saab. The gown is simple with it’s cap-sleeves and split-neckline but stunning in a dramatic red.

Katie Holmes took to the red carpet in a simple but elegant halterneck gown by Calvin Klein. The azure blue is a stunning colour on Katie’s olive complexion and the Calvin Klein silver belt nips in the waist giving a bit of shape to the gown.

Claire Danes sits firmly in the best dress category for Emmy award attendees. The actress wore a strapless metallic blue gown from the resort collection by Oscar De La Renta. Metallic blue is an unusual colour to see on the red carpet, this design with it’s geometric shape pattern is particularly stunning

Devil Wears Prada star Emily Blunt was one of my best dressed attendees. Emily wore a midnight blue beaded gown from the fall haute couture collection by Elie Saab. The dress fits her perfectly and the plunging neckline adds an element of drama to this exquisite look.

Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev wowed in what was one of her best ever red carpet looks; a strapless gown from the resort collection by Donna Karan. She teamed the dress with a Neil Lane necklace and Judith Leiber clutch. I love her elegant side-swept hair – the perfect do for this dress.

True Blood star, Anna Paquin didn’t walk the red carpet but she did appear on stage to present an award. For Anna when it comes to a red carpet there is really only one designer of choice and that is Alexander McQueen. Anna wore a draped black gown with gold accents by Alexander McQueen. Accents of gold Van Cleef & Arpels set the look off perfectly.

Zooey Deschanel attended the Emmy Awards wearing a pretty strapless full skirted gown from the resort collection of Monique Lhuillier. This gown has a real high school prom feel about it with the soft pink palette and retro updo but in a typically Zooey way this works with a real quirky vibe.

Julianna Margulies made an unusual choice in red carpet gown for the Emmy’s. Julianna chose a strapless gown by Armani Prive in a bright white. White can sometimes seem a little bridal which is why it’s usually avoided at black tie events but this particularly design with it’s crystal stone detailing on the bodice and slight metallic sheen to it absolutely works.

Yet another red dress, this time on Glee’s Lea Michele. Lea wore this shoulder ruffle design by Marchesa. Whilst as a dress in itself it’s perfectly nice but it doesn’t really standout especially amongst the other looks from the event. IT doesn’t look like it fits particularly well however its one redeeming feature is the cowl back.

Penelope Cruz accompanied her husband Javier Bardem who is nominated for best actor to tonights Academy Awards. Penelope who has just given birth a mere few weeks ago showed off an enviable post baby body in a red sequinned gown by L’Wren Scott. Whilst she undoubtedly looks fab I think perhaps this look with its sequin flame patterns has a little too much going on.

Reese Witherspoon attended the 2011 Academy Awards this evening. Reese went for the timeless glamour of a monochrome dress by Armani Prive. Black and white dresses will always be chic and Reese adds a nice touch to her look with a high ponytail (a big hair trend on the runways for next season).

Gwyneth Paltrow will be performing at tonight’s Oscars following her new found success as a singer! On the red carpet she shone in a nude sequinned gown by Calvin Klein. As with all Calvin Klein gowns there is a simplicity that makes it so elegant yet soooo glamorous.

Nicole Kidman was one of the big names on tonight’s Academy Awards red carpet. Nicole is nominated in the best actress category for her role in Rabbit Hole. For the big night Nicole went for a white gown embroidered from the spring 2009 haute couture collection by Christian Dior. The peplum detail on the hips does nothing for Nicole’s slender frame, this isn’t one of the best looks we’ve seen this evening (in fact it may even be one of the worst).

Natalie Portman was one of the last to arrive on the red carpet at the 2011 Academy Awards despite being the lady of the night. Natalie took away, as expected the best actress award for her role in Black Swan. For the biggest night in the movie business Natalie chose a maroon silk chiffon gown by Rodarte. This was a stunning look on Natalie with the draping complimenting her baby bump perfectly!

Sandra Bullock was last year’s best actress winner at the Oscars for her role in The Blind Side. This year she attended the ceremony as a presenter. Sandra went for a classically glamorous look in a strapless bright red dress by Vera Wang. Statement red lips and a chic updo make for a flawless look.

Halle Berry was the second big name of the night to be dressed by Marchesa after Hailee Steinfeld arrived in her girly ballgown design. Halle arrived on the Oscar’s red carpet in a nude tulle detail gown. A gown by Marchesa is a sure bet on best dressed list and this one is no different. It’s nice to see Halle in something so girly and feminine as opposed to her usual super sexy looks.
