Michelle Monaghan landed on my ‘one to watch’ list a few months back when she out-dressed countless celebs in the red dress category in an amazzzzing Versace number altered from the spring runway. She continued this trend last night at the Source Code premiere, rocking a white dress (also from the new spring collection by Versace). She teamed the dress with nude Versace pointed toe shoes.

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise (or TomKat as they’re collective known) made a rare public appearance last night at the LA premiere of Katie’s new tv series ‘The Kennedys.’ Katie who plays Jackie Onassis in the adaptation perhaps appears to have learnt a few style tips from her famously fashionable on-screen persona. The usually dowdy (I won’t mince my words) dressing Katie went for a pretty blue summer dress from the spring collection by Ralph Lauren; a pretty palette for Spring combined with a natural hair and makeup look makes for a refreshing look.

Vanessa Hudgens attended the premiere of her new movie Sucker Punch, this week in Los Angeles. The High School Musical star has come a long way since her teen princess days, debuting a distinctly more grownup look. Vanessa looked stunning in a silver embroidered gown from the spring 2011 collection by Jenny Packham. A backless detail adds another fab element to this pretty gown.

Kate Moss made her return to the catwalk yesterday when she appeared at Marc Jacob’s autumn/winter runway show for Louis Vuitton. Kate is no stranger to the runways but has with the benefit of celebrity status steered clear of them for some years. It was the draw of the Louis Vuitton show and it’s collection that many fashion editors are hailing ‘a fashion moment’ that brought her back to the runway, strutting around in a pair of hotpants and smoking…well what else?!

Paris Fashion week draws to a close tomorrow, ending the massive commute for editors, models and eager front row celebs from New York to London, onto Milan and finally Paris. Today was one of the highlights of the schedule when Karl Lagerfeld presented his fall/winter 2011 collection for Chanel. The front row was heavy with British stars; Lily Allen and Alexa Chung taking pride of place.

Lily Allen debuted a more grown-up look sporting a green tweed coat from the pre-fall collection with a pop of colour provided by her classic red Chanel handbag. Alexa Chung went for a look that could have walked straight off the pages of a Jane Austen novel (minus the short hemline), but as usual for Alexa it’s one of those ‘so weird it actually works’ looks.

Superstar stylist Caroline Sieber always gets my attention for her immaculate looks she is usually snapped wearing. For the Chanel show Caroline rocked a Chanel look in a tweed jacket from the spring/summer collection teamed with a teeny tiny black lace skirt and gold sandals also from spring/summer.

Kate Middleton; two words guaranteed to melt even the surliest of Republicans. Today Kate accompanied her soon-to-be husband Prince William at a Royal engagement in Belfast. In the fashion stakes it seems Kate can do absolutely no wrong, today she went for the fail-safe yet effortlessly chic option in a classic Burberry trench coat (somewhere Christopher Bailey is rubbing his hands together right now at the inevitable meteoric sales boost in beige Burberry trenches). She went for the on-trend way to wear your belt, looping the end over and kept her accessories simple with a black clutch, opaque black tights and modest heels.

Fairytales take a turn for the dark and disturbing with the release of Red Riding Hood, the big screen adaptation of the classic tale. Amanda Seyfried stars in the film which is directed by Twilight’s Catherine Hardwicke. The premiere took place last night in LA, Amanda arrived at the event wearing a classic shift dress from the new spring collection by Lanvin. The mulberry colour is an elegant alternative to black and is accessorised perfectly with nude Lanvin shoes and a Tom Binns layered necklace.

The NAACP Awards took place in LA this weekend. The awards ceremony attracted Hollywood A-lister Halle Berry who has been a little hit and miss on the red carpet of late (Nina Ricci and Marchesa misses at the Golden Globe and Oscars but one fab Elie Saab hit at the Costume Designers awards). Unfortunately this outing was a categoric fashion fail. Halle wore a longsleeve cutout patterned gown from last year’s spring collection by Emilio Pucci.

Sofia Vergara demonstrates how going for a simple tried and tested look is sometimes a far better option. Sofia went for a black strapless beaded dress by Dolce & Gabbana. Finally up and coming teen star Victoria Justice arrived wearing a metallic lamé gown by Romona Keveza. Now those two words metallic and lamé should never go in the same sentence let alone both appear in a dress.

For Nicola Formichetti’s debut catwalk presentation as creative director of Mugler expectations were high. Formichetti, who’s cv includes fashion director of Vogue Japan and high street chain Uniqlo, is perhaps best known for his work with outrageous pop songstress Lady Gaga. Remember that meat dress or the more recent incubation egg pod? All Formichetti.

The show began with anticipation at fevour pitch, greatly aided by the twitter declaration by Gaga herself that she would be taking to the runway. What Formichetti presented was akin to an ode to Gaga herself. With a backdrop of Gaga beats models sported sharp shouldered suits, latex trousers, sheer tops and exposed bra detailing in abundance. A collection fit for stage costumes and red carpet looks for a world famous superstar Yes. Wearable for everyone else? Not so much.
