Naomi Watts attended last night’s post-Oscar Vanity Fair party. The actress looked stunning in a black feather train sheer panelled gown from Zac Posen’s spring collection. Although black dresses can be a little boring on the red carpet the feather train and sheer panel in the front give it perfect red carpet drama.

Taylor Swift went for a glamorous look in a sequinned gold and silver mini-dress by Zuhair Murad. Although I like the dress short dresses just seem a little under-dressed for the biggest night in the showbiz calender. Cameron Diaz is guilty of the same crime, she went for a one shouldered printed gown from the pre-fall collection by Carolina Herrera. Cameron has had the dress considerably shortened but even without the loss of inches on the hemlines it’s not a pretty dress.

Emma Stone is a relative newcomer on the celeb circuit but she attended the Vanity Fair party last night in a true A-list style. Emma went high fashion in an embroidered lace dress from the fall haute couture collection by Chanel. I like that Emma has been brave enough to go for such a statement dress amongst a sea of same old same olds.

Jessica Biel is a fully fledged Hollywood star so really should have known better. Jessica went for a flesh toned beaded gown by Versace. This dress is not only a bad fit on Jessica, doing absolutely nothing for her but is a horrible colour. Finally Eva Mendes is clearly a fan of Natalie Portman because she attended the party in a custom made Donna Karan gown that can only be described as a Black Swan costume.

Every year following the Oscar awards ceremony the stars of the red carpet head a few blocks up to the Vanity Fair party where the guestlist is strictly A-list. Zoe Saldana made an appearance at the party wearing a statement red chiffon pleated dress from the hot off the runway fall collection by Prabal Gurung. I love the colour here, I’m not a massive fan of the neckline but Zoe really can’t look bad.

Charlize Theron didn’t make it to the main ceremony but appeared at the Vanity Fair after party. Charlize went for old school Hollywood glamour in a white draped assymmetric gown by Atelier Versace, I only wish the dress didn’t have the embellished detail in the middle. Finally every awards night has to have a bit of a fashion fail and tonight that was Amanda Seyfried. Amanda attended the event in a pre-fall Valentino dress. There are numerous problems with this look; it being far too informal and the bra showing being the main ones.

The red carpet arrivals continued at Elton John’s Oscar party last night. Claire Danes made an appearance wearing a winter white low-neck dress by Calvin Klein. This look is effortlessly chic, Claire looks like she’s simply thrown it on with abit of lippy and just like that she’s outshining many of her red carpet companions.

Emma Roberts is swiftly gaining notoriety in the fashion world, last night she wowed in a deep v-neck gown from the new spring collection by Jenny Packham. I like the idea of the dress but can’t get away from the fact that it looks like something has exploded around her mid-drift. Finally Hayden Panettiere made an appearance at the party in an ill fitting white draped dress by Luca Luca. Her scraped back hair is also far too severe and does very little for her.

Glee star Dianna Agron attended the Elton John Oscar Party last night in LA. The actress looked pretty in a midnight blue silk gown by J.Mendel. She teamed the look with Ferragamo pumps and a Roger Vivier clutch. I like that this isn’t a floor-length dress making it just a little bit different.

Kelly Osbourne had a long night of it with her red carpet hosting duties for E! Seeing as her job is to judge red carpet outfits I’m always interested to see what she is wearing. She did indeed pass my test looking classically elegant in a grey capsleeved gown by Tony Ward couture.

Heidi Klum is so prolific on glamorous red carpets I almost forget her occupation is a model and not A-list actress. For Elton’s party Heidi went uber glam in a silver mirror embellished gown from the fall 2009 collection by Julien MacDonald complete with statement thigh high split.

The after party celebrations for the Academy Awards attract nearly as much attention as the main event. It’s where all the stars can let loose following all the drama and anticipation and of course where the lesser known stars not quite able to swing an invite to the ceremony come out to play. And of course the outfits are equally as glam.

One of the hotspots to be at on the night is Elton John’s bash. The event attracted a whole load of stars (mainly young Hollywood). Nicole Richie attended the party decked out in white in a dress from the hot of the runway autumn/winter collection by Halston. I’m not a big fan of this look, with its cutaway details it has a slightly cheap look to it. (Think Cheryl Cole, all we’re missing is a few tattoos).

Also on the red carpet a newly brunette Ashley Tisdale. Ashley looked surprisingly demure in an antique lace asymmetric embroidered gown from spring collection by Jenny Packham. Finally what would a celeb packed night in LA be without Kim Kardashian? Kim went for a silk and organza peplum detailed gown from the resort collection by J.Mendel. There’s nothing wrong with this look but I do feel like we’ve seen it before on Kim many many times.

Penelope Cruz accompanied her husband Javier Bardem who is nominated for best actor to tonights Academy Awards. Penelope who has just given birth a mere few weeks ago showed off an enviable post baby body in a red sequinned gown by L’Wren Scott. Whilst she undoubtedly looks fab I think perhaps this look with its sequin flame patterns has a little too much going on.

Reese Witherspoon attended the 2011 Academy Awards this evening. Reese went for the timeless glamour of a monochrome dress by Armani Prive. Black and white dresses will always be chic and Reese adds a nice touch to her look with a high ponytail (a big hair trend on the runways for next season).

Gwyneth Paltrow will be performing at tonight’s Oscars following her new found success as a singer! On the red carpet she shone in a nude sequinned gown by Calvin Klein. As with all Calvin Klein gowns there is a simplicity that makes it so elegant yet soooo glamorous.

Nicole Kidman was one of the big names on tonight’s Academy Awards red carpet. Nicole is nominated in the best actress category for her role in Rabbit Hole. For the big night Nicole went for a white gown embroidered from the spring 2009 haute couture collection by Christian Dior. The peplum detail on the hips does nothing for Nicole’s slender frame, this isn’t one of the best looks we’ve seen this evening (in fact it may even be one of the worst).
