Glee’s Lea Michele attended the 30th birthday party for animal rights charity PETA in LA yesterday. The singer/actress chose a champagne coloured strapless gown from up and coming designer Jose Duran. Whilst I like the sentiment of this gown its implementation falls a little flat, the colour is a tiny bit off resulting in a lacklustre look.
Last night celebrities from all over appeared on the red carpet for The LACMA opening gala, a masked ball. Attendees included Tom Hanks, James Franco and Christina Aguilera.
Nicole Richie went for full on glamour in a ball gown from the fall 2009 collection of Marchesa. Everything about this dress is fabulous…..minus the black ribbon detail. Olivia Wilde wowed in a nude tulle gown by Monique Lhuillier.
Teri Hatcher also chose a dress by Lhuiller but kept it simple in a chic black gown. Kim Kardashian was her usual glamorous self in a stunning asymmetric red number by Georges Hobeika. As for Christina Aguilera there are no words; the dress (Atelier Versace), hair, fake tan…..just awful.
Peter Dundas has created something of a revolution at Emilio Pucci, this has been reaffirmed in glorious style over the past three seasons where Pucci designs have been more prevalent than any other designer in magazines, film posters (SJP in the SATC2 poster of course) and obviously on red carpets. So when Kylie Minogue showed up to the spring/summer 2011 show in Milan yesterday in a show-stopping gold mini dress from the fall collection, no-one was surprised.
Demi Lovato showed off her style credentials when she attended a charity gala in LA this week. The Disney songstress chose an asymmetric gown ruched detail gown by Alice + Olivia in the perfect shade of purple. In stark contrast Eva Longoria who is much more of a veteran on the red carpets chose an ill-fitting silver and black dress by Gustavo Cadile.
Milan fashion week is now in full swing with the eagerly anticipated show from Donatella Versace debuting yesterday. Front row consisted of Mad Men’s January Jones who is becoming something of a Versace ambassador following her acclaimed appearance in that blue dress at the Emmys. January Jones wore a red fringing dress with colour block sandals straight off the catwalk from the spring collection.
As for the collection it was yet another victory for Versace, whose fierce dressing girl (Cheryl Cole et al) is going to simply adore these designs. Strong silhouettes of body-hugging pencil skirts with carefully placed cut-out details. The jackets; short, sharp and to die for.
The colour palette only added to the bold feeling of the collection reds, blues, whites and blacks. The show finished with evening gowns complete with fringing; perfect for the red carpet as demonstrated nicely by January Jones on the front row.
The eagerly anticipated shoe galleries opened today in Selfridges on Oxford street. The very lovely Gemma Arterton was on hand to oversee the festivities. Gemma was dressed to kill in a Balmain military jacket from the fall collection teamed with leather cropped trousers, killer Christian Louboutin stilettos and a slick of fierce red lipstick.
