It has been quite a couple of weeks for the Twilight leading ladies, with Kristen Stewart taking London Fashion Week by storm and now Ashley Greene amazing in Milan.
Ashley Greene who plays Alice Cullen in the Twilight Saga has been a fixture in Milan, front row at Gucci and then above at Giorgio Armani. She was in good company at Armani sitting alongside Hollywood stylist Rachel Zoe and actor Clive Owen.
Italy must agree with the actress who looked stunning in a dress from Giorgio Armani‘s resort 2010 collection with a Giorgio Armani pink clutch.
The stars were out in Los Angeles over the weekend for the annual NAACP awards. The award ceremony honors people of color in film, television, music and the arts.
Oscar nominee Sandra Bullock arrived wearing a dress by Alexander McQueen. Although McQueen has proved a good choice for Sandra in the past on this occasion it seems not. The high neck and mid calf length features of the dress do nothing for Sandra’s figure and actually would be ideal for someone much older. As reiterated in the past with Carrie Mulligan’s Vionnet Bafta dress, awards gowns should always be plain with minimal embroidery and detail. We are expecting a much much better gown at the Oscars from this Hollywood heavyweight.
In contrast Disney channel star Selena Gomez wore an ethereal strapless white gown by Lebanese designer Georges Hobeika. The gown is undoubtedly stunning but perhaps 17 year old Selena should wait a few years to wear such gowns.
Vogue Italia hosted a party on Friday night to coincide with Milan Fashion week which is currently underway in the city. The event attracted the usual host of fashion editors, models and designers.
Most notable attendance went to Lindsay Lohan, who shockingly looked rather stunning in a coppery gold flapper dress by Roberto Cavalli.
Also coming in high on the fashion radar was Claire Danes and Zoe Saldana both of whom have been making their rounds in Milan taking in the shows.
Attracting attention for all the wrong reasons were Courtney Love who looked a little like a corpse bride in her white dress and Pixie Geldof whose daringly cut dress may have just been acceptable but for the awful hair.
Tribal prints were everywhere on the runways for spring/summer 2010. With Italian heavyweights Gucci and Versace featuring them heavily in their collections, the French houses of Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga weren’t without them and they were also used in New York see Marc by Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler and Diane Von Furstenberg above.
It is thus inevitable that this is a look we should all be rocking come summer. So how to wear it? Very simply it’s about abstract prints and ethnic looking details, think the accessories you picked up in a market whilst on holiday in Morocco/Cape Verde/Carribean. The great thing about this trend is that it is so versatile wear a printed dress, a tribal top with jeans or simply throw a cute bag on with a plain outfit.
Lady Glamourazzi has found this great strapless print dress By Malene Birger that will ensure you are the most stylish person you know. Dress up with heels for the evening or down with sandals for the day. Available now for £162 at my-wardrobe.com
It is not surprising given the awful outfits sported by the leading ladies (except for Mia) at the Alice in Wonderland premiere that this horror was overlooked.
Yes that is the model Daisy Lowe, dressed in a sheer black dress with purple underwear and stockings. What might actually be worse than the outfit itself (if such a thing is possible) is her hair, Daisy has created some sort of birds nest style up-do normally only sported by the likes of Amy Winehouse.
Whilst she undoubtedly has a great body there is a time and a place for it, in the presence of royalty at a film premiere is not one of them!
With awards season in full swing its not just the actors and actresses who have ceremonies to attend but the production staff too. Last night was the 12th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards in Beverley Hills.
In attendance was Emily Blunt, the Sherlock Holmes star has become one to watch in the fashion stakes. Wearing a beautiful metallic blue look dress by Georges Chakra couture there was absolutely nothing to fault.
Also present was True Blood star Anna Paquin, Anna has also made a series of great fashion choices recently including a daring design from Alexander McQueen’s spring/summer ocean themed collection for the Screen Actors Guild awards. For the Costume Designers Awards Anna chose a multicoloured print dress by British designer Marios Schwab and teamed it with gladiator sandals (I am not convinced these actually go with the dress, something simpler would have been better with such a detailed dress).
With the Oscars merely 8 days away Anna and Emily will surely be ones to watch.
Alice in Wonderland debuted last night with a Royal Premiere in Leicester Square, London.
The premiere was attended by a host of stars from Hollywood elite such as Johnny Depp and Anne Hathaway, to the best of British including Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall and even Barbara Windsor.
In the style stakes it was a night dominated by Vivienne Westwood with Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and even the Duchess of Cornwall showing up in her designs. However it was not a particularly triumphant night for the designer with Camilla drowning in her shiny blue gown, Helena looking rather strange and dishevelled, whilst the shape and colour of Anne’s metallic copper gown was all wrong for her.
All was not lost however as Mia Wasikowska (above) who plays Alice in the film stunned in an embroidered Valentinocouture gown.
Giorgio Armani has announced that he has designed several looks for Lady Gaga’s latest tour ‘The Monster Ball’.
It was not an unexpected collaboration given that Mr Armani decked Gaga out for her Grammy’s appearance. Creations include a sparkly structured bodysuit (see above in concert in Liverpool), a geometric mini dress and a floor length trench coat along with footwear and of course sunglasses.
Armani’s collaboration with Lady Gaga demonstrates the influence and recognition she has achieved in the world of fashion in addition to her indisputable conquering of the music scene. She is undoubtedly one of the most talented and influential artists of our generation.
Lady Gaga’s tour comes to London tonight and will visit arenas across the UK before heading to Europe.
The NME awards in Brixton on Wednesday night turned out the usual suspects in the ceremony celebrating the more ‘serious’ musicians.
The controversy of the night came after an alleged show down between Lily Allen and Courtney Love. Courtney was apparently aggrieved that Lily had supposedly put a lock on anyone else wearing Chanel at the Brit awards (Lily has denied this). What has ensued is a rather bitter backlash on twitter from Lily, with comments such as ‘I don’t pick on crazy old ladies.’
As for the outfits there was nothing to sing about but it was the NMEs so a fashion extravaganza was not expected. Lily looked rather angelic in a vintage lace number. US singer Ke$ha was looking surprisingly good in Halston Heritage. Whilst Agyness Deyn exuded her regular edgy cool in a fur coat and leather trousers, it seems fur coats are the thing to be seen in as Courtney Love rocked up in a big beige number.
Kristen Stewart, aka Bella Swan of the Twilight Saga has been making her rounds this week in London. First it was the Baftas where she won the rising star award. Then off to the Elle style awards where she was awarded women of the year. Then she showed up at Burberry Prorsum to take in the autumn/winter collection.
Kristen was fittingly dressed in Burberry Prorsum, the silver silk-blend knot skirt being taken from Burberry’s spring/summer collection. (See it modelled on the catwalk below). The same skirt can be purchased right now from net-a-porter.co.uk for the sum of £995!
As expected Christopher Bailey has outdone himself showing a collection with a distinctly military vibe. The shearling aviator jackets were the talk of the collection, with some rather sexy fitted navy jackets and the ever elegant draped detail dresses.
One beautiful show (thank you Mr Bailey), an A-List front row (Kristen, Kate, Mary Kate etc) and London Fashion Week is done!
