AWARDS SEASON – Pre-Grammy Gala

Sunday, 31 January, 2010

Because one party isn’t enough! Last night was the pre-Grammy gala, the party before the main Grammy event tonight in LA.

It was immediately following the event one year ago that Rihanna and boyfriend Chris Brown were involved in an incident that left Rihanna severely beaten and Chris with on a 5 year probation.

The singer looked to have put her troubles behind her stealing the show in an ostentatious number by Viktor and Rolf (spring/summer 2010).

Also in attendance:

Ciara in Givency

Fergie in Zuhair Murad

Carrie Underwood in Jenny Packham

Katy Perry in Georges Chakra

Check back tomorrow at Ladyglamourazzi for a roundup of the best and the worst from the 2010 Grammy Awards.

FAB FASHION BUYS – Luella Bartley

Thursday, 28 January, 2010

It was announced in November last year that cult British label Luella Bartley would cease trading. Luella’s range, characterised by chic designs with an edgy London twist have been worn by the fashion elite including Kate Moss, Chloe Sevigny and Cameron Diaz.

It is a gloomy day for fashion when one of the greats bites the dust however every cloud has a silver lining and in this case it is Luella designs at bargain prices. Check out Luella’s website www.luella.com for all sorts of wonderous items at low prices. With Luella ceasing any production hold onto these beauties and you could be onto a winner in years to come.

Fashionistas can’t help but feel sad for the label however Lady Glamourazzi doubts that we have heard the last from Luella Bartley.

STYLE ICON – Anna Kendrick

Thursday, 28 January, 2010

Anna Kendrick first hit our screens back in 2008 where she starred alongside Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in the sensational Twilight Saga. With a relatively minor role Anna took a back seat in the wake of the worldwide phenomenon. It was a leading role in ‘Up In The Air’ alongside George Clooney which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for best supporting actress in 2010 that meant the world began to take notice.

A string of red carpets later including the premieres of ‘Up In The Air’ and ‘New Moon’ thrust her firmly into the limelight. To the Golden Globes she dazzled in a Marchesa number and at the Screen Actors Guild Awards as pictured above in Alberta Ferretti she looked every inch the Hollywood superstar.

Whilst Anna’s style cannot be described as particularly daring or different she possesses a classical elegance that cannot go underrated on the red carpet. Red carpets are about GLAMOUR and Anna Kendrick’s recent outings certainly qualify!

With the buzz surrounding her acting career we are sure to be seeing big things from Anna, on our movie screens and on the red carpet.

AWARDS SEASON – NRJ’S Cannes Roundup

Thursday, 28 January, 2010

Cannes saw a flurry of celebrity activity this weekend when it hosted the NRJ Music Awards. Cannes is synonymous with the word glamour so of course the red carpet did not disappoint.

Fergie was present with her Black Eyed Peas band mates wearing a floor length sequinned blue Armani Prive gown. Also in attendance was ‘Tik Tok’ singer Kesha looking casual in her signature rock chic look; leather pants and holey vest. Burlesque beauty Dita Von Teese showed up in a lace Jean Paul Gaultier dress, and accessoried it with the designer himself.

It was however a night stolen by the princess of pop Rihanna pictured above who wowed in a lace cutaway Jean Paul Gaultier white gown (a successful night for Jean and his designs!)

Did she get the look right? Lady Glamourazzi thinks so, whilst the see-through lace and low back is revealing the high neck and long length help to balance the look out leaving her with a very sexy but still chic look.

STYLE DEBATE – Taylor Momsen

Thursday, 28 January, 2010

Taylor Momsen was out and about in New York City last week promoting the launch of the ‘Love Rocks’ fragrance at Victoria Secrets.

Little J sure has grown up. From the sweet, fresh faced teen who first graced the streets of the Upper East Side in Gossip Girl she has undergone a remarkable transformation.

Taylor, 16, (yes she really is only 16 though she could easily pass for 25) much like her onscreen character has gone through a style metamorphosis from cute dresses and poker straight hair she has turned into a fully fledged grunge queen. Comparisons to Courtney Love are inevitable, the striking looks and platinum blonde hair aside, it’s the attitude that really bites.

In a recent interview with The Times she responded to the issue of her status as a role model stating: I don’t f***ing care. I didn’t get into this to be a role model.”

Whether Taylor meant to or not is irrelevant, in an age where image is everything, a star on one of the most watched shows will be imitated.

What does this mean in the style stakes? Get out your black eyeliner and biker boots and put on your best ‘I don’t give a crap face.’ Taylor’s look started out with potential following the typical rock chic look sported by a number of celebrities from Kate Moss to Lindsay Lohan. Leather jackets teamed with tiny dresses and a killer hair cut. However Taylor’s style has taken a turn for the extreme with stockings, garter and mini skirts and as shown above dresses that resemble nighties teamed with biker boots and panda black eyes.

It is safe to say that Taylor has quickly turned from fashion icon to fashion victim. It’s a good job Taylor’s likely response to this would be ‘whatever’!

AWARDS SEASON – The Screen Actors Guild Awards Roundup

Thursday, 28 January, 2010

With the awards season in full swing Saturday brought around the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. Without the presence of monsoon rain as was the experience at the Golden Globes last weekend, (umbrellas never really make much of a fashion statement) the stars came out in full force.

It is not very often that an awards ceremony can occur without any fashion disasters however while perusing through the dresses it was very difficult to find anything to complain about. The stylists it seems did a great job So here’s the roundup – who wore what:

Anna Kendrick in purple Alberta Ferretti

Diane Kruger in mustard Jason Wu

Drew Barrymore in blue Monique Lhuillier

Sandra Bullock in black Alexander McQueen

Kate Hudson in white Emilo Pucci

Marion Cotillard in white Ellie Saab

Penelope Cruz in black L’Wren Scott

Lady Glamourazzi top picks:

Anna Paquin in Alexander McQueen. A daring look for the True Blood star, McQueen’s dresses are not for the faint hearted but Paquin wears it like a pro. The dress is from the Spring/Summer 2010 range, other looks worn by the likes of Lady Gaga in her video for ‘Bad Romance’.

Kate Hudson in Emilio Pucci, demonstrated exactly how a film star should look on the red carpet. The backless gown is straight off the catwalk for Pucci’s Spring/Summer range. Pucci is generally not a label worn too often at red carpet gowns however with Kate being hailed as the fashion queen of the night the dress has put the designer firmly into the spotlight. Looking immaculate from head to toe the actress got it exactly right, from the sun-kissed highlights and light tan to the subtle silver accessories. Can’t wait to see what she’ll wear for the Oscars!

AWARDS SEASON – The NTAS Roundup

Thursday, 28 January, 2010

The National Television Awards in London brought out a whole host of stars all dressed up in their finest hoping to impress. The big news of the night was the X-Factor judge Danni Minogue who had just announced she is expecting her first baby with partner Kris Smith. Wearing a vintage prom dress is black and white stripes she went for an unconventional choice but paid off with an ultimately very cute look.

Also wowing on the red carpet was Eastenders star Kara Tointon. Not known for having a great red carpet look but that is sure to change with the black lace panelled dress by Alexander McQueen she wore. An elegant choice, on trend and Lady Glamourazzi wants one.

The red carpet beauty of the night however could only be Cheryl Cole. Having to dress in glitzy dresses every week for the X-Factor live shows sure has given Cheryl great practice in dressing up. She certainly did not disappoint wearing a stunning grey number by French couturier Stephane Rolland. Cheryl’s look gives us exactly what we love about her; a highly glamorous and very polished look.

Amanda Holden in white Ralph and Russo

Tess Daly in white RM by Roland Mouret

Cheryl Cole in grey Stephane Rolland

Danni Minogue in white and black vintage dress

Davina McCall in navy Notte by Marchesa

Fearne Cotton in purple from her own range at Very

Kara Tointon in black Alexander McQueen

TRENDY TALK – Nautical Nights

Thursday, 28 January, 2010

Dear Glamourettes,

Good news for money saving Glamourettes, the nautical trend which was very big last summer is set to continue into spring summer 2010.

See the collections for Tommy Hilfiger shown in New York and Givenchy’s jackets from the Paris show.

Nautical is a flattering look to wear, and can be achieved with minimum effort. Any wardrobe can be easily adapted to fit in with this trend, a striped tshirt will do the trick or if your feeling thrifty even a few gold buttons sewn across the shoulder seams of a jumper will instantly transform it for the new season.

For more statement pieces there is no shortage available out there on the high street, online and in the designer houses.

The look above is brought to you by high street and online retailer Next. Next has always been a great destination for fashion basics, but more recently the odd high fashion item and a great shoe department, all of these are at great competitive prices.

A tailored blazer is a fab investment piece if you haven’t already got one leftover from last season with the boyfriend jacket trend. As with the look above for those braver souls a nautical tee or blazer paired with shorts is also a good look. Shorts were hot on the catwalks with the likes of Marc Jacobs and even Hermes daring to bare.

Tailored Blazer £45 Striped T-Shirt £32 Cuffed Shorts £20 Platform Sandals £38 Nautical Bracelets £12. All at Next.

AWARDS SEASON – The Golden Globes Roundup

Thursday, 28 January, 2010

Glamourettes love awards season, not because we are interested in who takes the awards home (most of the films unless they include Robert Pattinson we are very unlikely to have actually seen) but for the dresses! Who wore what? Who got it right? And who got it wrong? Lady Glamourazzi brings you the roundup from the Golden Globes:

Yes Yes Yes:

Sandra Bullock in purple Bottega Veneta

Emily Blunt in pink Dolce and Gabbana

Diane Kruger in pink Christian Lacroix

Courtney Cox Arquette in black Victoria Beckham

Anna Kendrick in white Marchesa

Drew Barrymore in nude Atelier Versace

Anna Paquin in gold sequinned Stella McCartney

Cameron Diaz in red Alexander McQueen

Jennifer Garner in silver sequinned Atelier Versace

Kate Hudson in white Marchesa

Maggie Gyllenhaal in pink RM by Roland Mouret

Penelope Cruz in black Armani Prive

Marion Cotillard in green Christian Dior

No No No:

Mariah Carey in black Herve Leger (As demonstrated here breast is not always best!)

Julia Roberts in Yves Saint Laurent (Boring)

Fergie in purple/blue Ellie Saab (that shade of lavender is disgusting and should only be worn by old ladies)

Leona Lewis in lavender Roberto Cavalli (again a terrible colour only to be worn by pensioners)

Chloe Sevigny in ruffled Valentino (this was ripped as she got on stage to accept her award for best supporting actress in a tv series– divine intervention?)

Lady Glamourazzi’s worst look:

Elisabetta Canalis in Roberto Cavalli. We expected more for the lady on the arm of George Clooney. The colour is terrible, she is absolutely stunning but has somehow managed to pick up and choose the only dress that does nothing for her. In addition one day (hopefully soon) women will learn that tattoos and evening wear do not go.

Lady Glamourazzi’s top pick:

Olivia Wilde in Gucci. Everything about this look is exactly right, the dress is show-stopping, although the plunging neckline is risqué Olivia’s smaller bust pulls it off without looking trashy. The hair, makeup and accessories are all perfectly understated, with a dress so glam it’s important they don’t take anything away. Love Love Love!!!!
